Here’s my favorite homeopathics and natural remedies for allergies and cold and flu season.

Everyday use

The nasal rinse has become my favorite everyday treatment to rinse and keep the sinus cavity flushed out. This has helped out my allergies significantly and helps sleep quality.

Allergies

The best formula I have found for allergies is to stay ahead. IF you know when your allergies are, start several weeks before using these products. The best combination includes nasal rinsing, a combination of the homeopathics, supplements and maintaining a healthy lifestyle including working out regularly, good sleep hygiene and low sugar, alcohol and processed foods including anything fried and breads.

Umcka is a homeopathic chewable which helps relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy watery eyes, nasal congestion, and sinus pressure. The main herb involved is the South African Geranium called Pelargonium Sidoides. Homeopathics have no drug interactions and can be taken with other homeopathics as well as OTC medications.

Another homeopathic from Boiron, is a non-drowsy anti-histamine called Histaminum Hydrochloricum.

Allergena is an under the tongue homeopathic, which is designed to give you allergy relief based on the zone which you live. There are 9 zones across the US, with Texas being in zone 5. Allergena reduces the body’s negative reaction to allergens, building immunity by exposing your body in micro doses to allergens. This way, the body becomes safely conditioned to tolerate the allergens that previously brought on allergic reactions, and ultimately reduce allergies.

Vitamins

  • Quercetin
  • Turmeric
  • NAC

Quercetin and Turmeric help with modulating inflammation, which keeps the sinuses clear and free. Quercetin is known for its antioxidant activity, anti-allergy properties, modulation of the immune system, antiviral, inhibition of histamine release and decrease in inflammation. NAC (N-acetyl-L-cysteine) is a precursor to the antioxidant glutathione. It helps prevent viruses and bacteria from adhering to the lining of the lungs, reduces excess airway mucus, lowers inflammation, and supports pulmonary function.

Cold/flu

Oscillococcinum relieves flu like symptoms and works with your body to help temporarily relieve fatigue, headache, body aches, chills & fever. Best taken at the first symptoms and does not interact with medications.

ColdCalm helps relieve cold symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, congestion and sore throat. Best taken at first symptoms and does not interfere with medications. Can be combined with the other homeopathics mentioned.

Traditional Medicinals makes some of my favorite tea consisting of Throat, Echinacca and Breathe to relieve symptoms of the cold/flu. Add a teaspoon of your favorite local honey to enhance the benefits.
